The NAS 10 Questions with The Just Imagines

This time, we get to know The Just Imagines, a soon to be husband and wife duo made up of Tyler Cressman - Instrumentalist (Guitar, Bass, Keys, Percussion and more), Vocals, Lyrics, Producer, and Ciroyelle - Lyrics, Vocals, Video Production, Visuals Art, Composer. Their trippy, hippy, multi-genre music is reminiscent of Led Zepplin, The Beatles, and other artists who made the sixties and flower-power movement so memorable, yet it's uniquely their own style, and instantly recognizable. I admit, I have personally followed Tyler for over a year now after connecting through Twitter, and instantly fell in love with the sound, so I was very pleased to see The Just Imagines in the NAS community, and excited to get to know more behind their music.

The track "Let's Find Our Way" is featured in the New Artist Spotlight Family of Playlists.

Link To New Artist Spotlight Playlists:

1. Tell us a little about where you are from and what you are currently doing.

Tyler is from Philadelphia, PA USA and Ciroyelle is from Frankfurt Germany. We met through music almost two years ago, fell in love after collabing on many tracks, and formed this band, The Just Imagines. Thus far we have released 4 singles from our upcoming debut album.

2. What inspired you to start playing and making music?

Tyler started playing guitar at a young age but had never written any of his own stuff. He always love music and was strongly influenced by his highly hippy parents. During the global lockdown he wrote his first song and the rest is history. Ciroyelle always wanted to perform and a few years ago she started making her own music. She quickly learned that this was more than a hobby, but really here true passion.

𝟯. Who are your biggest influences?

Tyler is influenced by, of course, The Beatles, but also loves hard rock, prog and classical. Some of his other favorite bands are Tool, The Mars Volta, King Gizzard, LCD Soundsytem and so so many more. Ciroyelle also loves The Beatles but has strong reggae, soul and R&B influences in her background. Bob Marley, Tina Turner, and the like, play a big part in her musical background.

4. What are your goals in the music industry?

We would love to be able to plays shows at festivals and continue to build our following. More important than anything, making music makes us smile and we hope it does for others too. The main goal is to spread and receive love.

5. Tell us about your creative process when you make new music.

Our creative process is challenging at the moment. We are waiting for Ciroyelle's Visa to move to the USA. We have been waiting over a year. For now, we conference through face time and work out our melodies and compositions. Many songs begin with the instruments first, perhaps first on Bass, Guitar or Piano, and then lyrics are added. This is not always the case, as sometimes the lyrics are written first.

6. What is your all-time favorite song?

Imagine, obviously, perfect message to live life by. Tyler is born the same day as Lennon and you can see it in our band name!

7. What is the best advice or council you have either given or received in terms of music?

Focus on making small improvements every day and before you know it, you will be awesome. Don't be discouraged by negative feedback, instead use this as motivation to overcome obstacles.

8. Proudest accomplishment?

Creating our 12 song album without ever being in the same room to create it. It has blues, folk, funk, reggae, classical, jazz, spanish style and more all on one album. It contains all the styles we always loved. We are so pround of this!

9. What is something about you that might surprise someone who knows you the best?

We have never performed live together as a band. It is has been impossible because we live in two countries. We hope to be able to perform together soon and increase our following.

𝟭0. Tell us about your highest and lowest points in music so far.

Our high points are simply all the wonderful feedback we receive from our fans. To know we made them smile and even if very small, we enhanced their lives, that is the goal. The low points have been few and far between because we are quite new to this and just enjoying the ride.
