I was a front man for a couple of bands in Baltimore and we scored a recording contract with RCA Records. The record was actually a bad deal which ended with lawsuits being filed by one of the band members and myself for the record company’s bad practice with publishing issues. After that I never wanted to sign with another record label and that I would always help artist that are starting out. Meanwhile my friend “Thomas L. Brown, III had a cousin “Mark Brown” was an A&R Rep with Atlantic Records. He saw me playing keyboard and signed me up for an audition for the R&B band “CHIC”. I was number ‘93’ (the very last person) on the audition for a keyboard player at the “Apollo Theater”. I played the song “Nothing from nothing” by Billy Preston, I was notified by “Mark” that I was chosen. I received a call from Nile Rodgers and from there I was brought in to fill in for their other keyboardist whom had other sessions. I have worked with: Blondie, Bobby Brown, Carly Simon, Crystal Waters, Madonna, and Run-DMC. Which earned me three Billboard singles with songs I have co-written with: Bobby Brown, Crystal Waters, and Terrence Balfour for Run-DMC.

I have actually achieved what I wanted in the music industry. To have a song with a “hook” that everyone could remember.

𝟴. 𝗠𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁?

A band member showed up late and intoxicated and was playing “off-key”. We ended up getting “Booed” off of the stage.
