𝟭. Where are you from and what is your hobby?

I am from a quiet suburb of Kolkata, India, the City of Joy. Growing up my first major hobby or passion was art as I used to make sketches and paint and even took art classes in middle school. All that is in the past but I do like making artwork or even creating some sketches on paper. Music production, sound design, singing and occasionally playing my guitar are some of my hobbies. I'm not much of a traveller but do like taking short trips here and there with my friends. I guess you can also say I'm also a pro wrestling, soccer and UFC enthusiast.

𝟮. How did your get into music?

My interest in painting faded as soon as the art classes stopped and I discovered bands like Metallica, U2, Black Sabbath, Megadeth, Audioslave and Slaughter along with many late 90s/early 2000s pop acts. Although I make electronic music now for the most part, I was a 15 year old metalhead (still am inside I guess) who picked up an acoustic guitar because he wanted to play and sing Seek & Destroy note by note. I was in several rock and metal bands between 2009 to 2014, playing guitar and/or singing. It was a short but fruitful career with several band competition wins and individual awards to show for, and I always look back with fondness. But 2014 was the year when the band I was in split up as college was over and it was time to be focus on a career. My interest in electronic music as a listener grew quite a bit around 2008-2009 when I started listening to more Europop, old school trance, psytrance and house music. As my curiosity grew, I knew I just had to get into making this kind of music. My bandmates and family did encourage me and that was great. So, I loaded up a DAW and just let my imagination roam free in 2012. You can still find that early, unpolished music on my Soundcloud page and see my progression as a musician.

𝟯. Who are your biggest influences?

My biggest influences from an electronic music standpoint are the trance stalwarts like Paul Van Dyk, Tiesto, Sash, Darude, Astrix, Above & Beyond, Paul Oakenfold, Robert Miles, John Askew and Aly & Fila. Other influences include artists like DJ Manian, Roy Gates, Bob Sinclair, Akcent, Deadmau5, Matt Darey, early Guetta, Sunrise Inc, and many more. I am always on the lookout for music that mesmerizes and inspires, and don't follow the commercial charts.

4. What are your goals in the music industry?

I make music to express my creative vision to listeners around the world. This is my ongoing goal and what motivates me. There is nothing better for me than getting genuine positive reaction from a listener and knowing how my music makes them feel. Currently, my goals include dropping a few releases over the course of this year, and creating more awareness to reach the rich fanbases through social media.

5. If you could choose a location to perform at, what would it be?

I am not a DJ but if I ever pick up that skill, a set at the Ultra Music Festival would be great. If I ever decide to do a rock/metal gig in the future, I'd like to fill out an arena somewhere.

6. What is your all-time favorite song?

For an Angel by Paul Van Dyk is probably my all-time favorite song. It was my gateway into the world of electronic music and it still amazes me to this day.

7. Most embarrassing moment?

Life has been full of so many embarrassing moments and it is hard to point one out really. I can think back to one when I was asked to sing and play Paranoid by my bandmates, but had to nervously decline cause I forgot the lyrics. It would be the only song I would sing that night by the way as I was primarily a guitarist during that gig.

8. Proudest accomplishment?

My proudest accomplishment is seeing my song Océano de Pasión getting such an overwhelmingly positive response. I remember how it started as a simple melody in late November last year, with me not knowing if it will ever get a release.

9. What is something about you that might surprise someone who knows you the best?

Even people who know me the best may not know how much I love having days when I enjoy do absolutely nothing. Reboot days like this are the best although they're hard to come by.

𝟭𝟬. What is your dream collaboration?

My dream collaboration would be with Paul Van Dyk or Astrix, as I am really into the music they have made over the years.

Haha glad you enjoyed it, I guess it is almost a split personality thing when it comes to my differing musical inclinations. The metalhead will live on inside always :)
