Okay, let’s get into the Ten questions for Kiirstin Marilyn!

𝟭. 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗼𝗯𝗯𝘆?

New York City. I wouldn't necessarily call it a hobby. I am an activist and community organizer focused on ending all oppression for humans and non humans alike through street outreach, political lobbying, and my artistry.

𝟮. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰/𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

I began dancing at a very young age, which led me to musical theater. I was in a touring company of the show "Cabaret" in which I had a cast mate who had brought his guitar on tour with him and was teaching himself to play and writing songs at the same time. Since I had been writing lyrics for a long time, but didn't know what to do with them, I was inspired by him to do the same. I asked for a guitar for my birthday and began immediately writing songs and even performed them live only 4 months into picking up the guitar. At some point someone saw me and told me to join a band. A couple months later, I went on craigslist and found 4 guys in Hoboken looking for a female front person. I wrote and performed with them for what seemed like 2 and a half grueling years until I decided it was time to move onto something new. Two bands later, I decided to "go solo" - something I never actually wanted to do as I love camaraderie of being in a band - and here I am as Kiirstin Marilyn with my first full-length album on the way.

𝟯. 𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗹𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀?

For this latest album definitely Lana Del Rey and Enter Shikari. But overall, Lana Del Rey and Enter Shikari of course, but also Sia, Florence and the Machine, No Doubt, Coheed and Cambria, Rage Against the Machine, Billie Eilish, Garbage, Lily Allen, The Beatles

𝟰. 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗯𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰?

2005

𝟱. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗴𝗼𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆?

I'd love to just be making a living making music and not have to worry about having a "survival job." I don't need, nor do I want, fame and fortune. Just time to create music and do the activism that is required of me.

𝟲. 𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗮 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗶𝘁 𝗯𝗲?

I'd love to perform at Irving Plaza. I don't know that I could tell you why its my favorite NYC venue, but it is; maybe because I've seen so many great shows there so there's a bit of nostalgia for me.

𝟳. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝘃𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗴?

"Lightning Crashes" by Live

𝟴. 𝗠𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁?

Oof. I'd have to say getting arrested for something really dumb that I will not mention ha.

𝟵. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗱𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁?

Probably this upcoming album, There Are No Cats in America. My producer, Adam Tilzer, and I worked really hard on this album for about two years and we really put our all into it. It's certainly the best thing I've ever created to date.

𝟭𝟬. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗲?

I'd love to collaborate with Enter Shikari. I admire them so much and what they are about.
