𝟭. Where are you from and what is your hobby?
I am currently living in Southern Ontario, Canada. Music used to be just a hobby in the past, but over time it has evolved to be something much more than that. It is now a way for me to express feelings in many different ways I could not do without music.
𝟮. How did your get into music?
Music has been around my entire life. Growing up, my entire family had some association with music. My mom was a music teacher, my sister was a singer, and my dad played guitar. I remember as a kid I would pull out my phone and write down lyrics off the top of my head just as a way to have fun. I got better at it over time and eventually decided to find a beat online and rap over it and share it with some people. From there, I learned all the basics of sound design and how to make a proper song, and now I can be very creative with my music and push the boundaries more and more for each song.
𝟯. Who are your biggest influences?
When I started making music I didn't really have anybody that influenced my sound, but at the same time, back then I didn't really have a unique sound. I was just making music from popular beats I found online. For my current music, a lot of influence has come from artists like Yung Lean, Bladee, and Ecco2k. You can definitely hear the influence they have on my new album. The cloud rap and atmospheric sounds on a lot of my new tracks definitely stem from certain aspects of their music.
4. What are your goals in the music industry?
My goals have definitely changed over time. If you asked me this a couple years ago, I would have said something along the lines of "I would love to make a living off my music". Although this is still true, I wouldn't consider this one of my main goals I'm striving for. Nowadays it's mostly just to create music that's true to myself, and not worry about how other people feel about it. If people decide to join along and listen to my music, that's awesome, but I try not to let outside opinions influence the sounds I want to create.
5. If you could choose a location to perform at, what would it be?
If I had to choose an ideal place to perform my music it would definitely have to be somewhere with a lot of mountains during a thunderstorm. It's probably not the safest idea but visualizing myself performing in front of a crowd with mountains surrounding us and thunder and lightning making the sky more lively and vivid just sounds so exciting to me. I'm not sure if this could ever happen but if it did, that would be a lot of fun.
6. What is your all-time favorite song?
Everyone knows that choosing an all time favourite song is really hard. Songs are so different and unique from each other it's difficult to compare some songs to other songs. That being said, I would definitely have to choose Red Bottom Sky by Yung Lean. This is the song that sent me on a rabbit hole down cloud rap and alternative hip-hop. The production on this track is truly amazing and it's hard to find songs that are produced so well. The atmospheric sounds this song has is so unique and beautiful. It really does make you feel like you are in another reality while listening to this song. If you haven't listened to it, I highly recommend you do!
7. Most embarrassing moment?
I remember a year ago or so, back when I was first making music, one of my friends mom told me they listened to my music and were really impressed. This was really nice to hear and all, but at the same time I did NOT think my old music would be fitting for this person. To this day I still wonder if they keep up with my music...
8. Proudest accomplishment?
My proudest accomplishment is probably creating three of the songs off my new album 100% on my own. "Seraphim", "Sincerely, Martineau2002", and "Unknown Warrior" were all tracks I made by myself and I love the way they turned out. In my opinion, these are the most creative songs on the album.
9. What is something about you that might surprise someone who knows you the best?
People might be surprised by the fact that I never listen to my own music. I don't know why, I do enjoy the songs and think the quality, production, and creativity is all really good, but I just never decide to listen to my own songs. If I had to guess why, it's probably because during the process of creating and editing the songs, I have to listen to it a thousand times before it ever gets released to the public, so my ears are just so use to it already.
𝟭𝟬. What is your dream collaboration?
I could choose a lot of artists I would want to work with in the future, but I definitely think collaborating with the producer Gud would really be a dream come true. I've always liked his music and could definitely make some interesting stuff with him.
