Okay, let’s get into the Ten questions for Crimson Discord!
𝟭. 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗼𝗯𝗯𝘆? Crimson Discord is a global band, Camou comes from Melbourne, Australia and Wolf hails from the Malmö area in Sweden. Camou follows Australian Football, loves Google Sheets and travelling overseas when there is no pandemic on. Wolf likes his ice hockey, he's also into IT and programming, is a keen hiker and forest explorer in the lush Skåne County region. Both like the idea of healthy living, but Wolf is far better at actually exercising with a routine!
𝟮. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰/𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻? They have both been musically practicing for some time and in different styles of bands for many years. Camou started off in gospel and 50s rock, whilst Wolf has played in Punk and rock bands consistently. Camou was given guitar lessons at 10 years old which he promptly quit after a month before getting serious 10 years later, most of the time he was a bass player. Wolf has much experience as both as a part time and casual player [also usually bass] but also as a roadie on some European tours. Being the better bass player, Wolf pulls rank and Camou has wisely diversified into other areas. We met each other playing an online space game and only have met once in real life, where we spent a week together in 2019 and the results were two songs, Anya off our album Keeping It Real and the cover that just released, Eve of Destruction.
𝟯. 𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗹𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀?
Musically we lean towards 70s and 80s rock of different types and flavours, but like everyone we are trying to adapt what we love to tell modern stories and use sounds that are appealing. Some artists we would say we borrow from might be Queen, Johnny Cougar, Blondie, The Cars, Crowded House, Alice Cooper, ABBA, AC/DC, Jet, Mötley Crüe and Dave and the Dynamos.
𝟰. 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗯𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰? Well our first experiences together came in 2008, two years later we released some music under another name. Fast forward 10 years and we reached out to other and decided to commit to and idea and do something concrete. Crimson Discord was officially born as an entity last year in November.
𝟱. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗴𝗼𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆? We would like our voices and stories to be heard, and new generations of music fans to enjoy styles that we enjoyed. A̶l̶s̶o̶,̶ ̶w̶e̶ ̶w̶o̶u̶l̶d̶ ̶l̶i̶k̶e̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶e̶v̶e̶n̶t̶u̶a̶l̶l̶y̶ ̶d̶r̶i̶v̶e̶ ̶P̶o̶r̶s̶c̶h̶e̶s̶ ̶o̶r̶ ̶F̶e̶r̶r̶a̶r̶i̶s̶,̶ ̶i̶n̶v̶e̶s̶t̶ ̶i̶n̶ ̶F̶r̶e̶n̶c̶h̶ ̶m̶a̶n̶s̶i̶o̶n̶s̶ ̶o̶n̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶Ri̶v̶i̶e̶r̶a̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶h̶a̶v̶e̶ ̶h̶o̶l̶i̶d̶a̶y̶ ̶h̶o̶m̶e̶s̶ ̶i̶n̶ ̶L̶A̶.̶ We would like this love to become a regular stream of income, no matter how small, so that in some way our hard work is rewarded. If people can learn from the stories in our songs without making our mistakes or be inspired by our music, then ultimately that will be us joy. W̶e̶l̶l̶,̶ ̶t̶h̶a̶t̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶c̶a̶s̶h̶ ̶(̶c̶'̶m̶o̶n̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶ ̶g̶u̶y̶s̶,̶ ̶b̶e̶ ̶h̶o̶n̶e̶s̶t̶!̶)̶
𝟲. 𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗮 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗶𝘁 𝗯𝗲? Wembley Station - this iconic venue has been the host of many famous concerts, the biggest one being perhaps Live Aid in '85. To be on the same stage as Freddie, Angus, Elton & Billy Joel, BTS... that would be unbelievable!
𝟳. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝘃𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗴? Camou says "Mean to Me" by Crowded House... The first time I heard this song it just blew me away with its simplicity but hard edged, dirt covered realistic lyrics.
𝟴. 𝗠𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁? Camou says there is a fine line between embarrassing and legendary... at least in Australia. Howver this was embarrassing... at aged 17, swimming in a school relay race and having my shorts go down to my knees, whilst wearing thin grey underwear. Half the school gathered on the side of the whole thinking I was drowning, when in fact I was trying to swim one handed whilst trying to get my shorts back into a less revealing position.
𝟵. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗱𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁?
In the universe, it would helping to produce and father my three children. In my mind, possibly completing my university degree in teaching, and in November it would be our song Rock It making the NAS top 20! [At least once!]
𝟭𝟬. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗲? Hmm, maybe getting Mutt Lange to produce our next album... or doing a duet with Miley Cyrus... or featuring Ringo Starr on drums.. or doing a video with Fin the Chaef... that guy is off the hook insane!
