1. Tell us a little about where you are from.

Hi! I'm Heygregg, I'm from Italy. Right now, I'm working on a new song for the summer — something fresh, with lyrics that paint beautiful, vivid images.

2. What inspired Heygregg to start playing and making music?

I started playing guitar when I was a kid. Then, during university, I began writing songs and performing around — more and more over time. Everything just came naturally, and here I am now. Waiting for a new track, more energetic than ever. Did you already listen 'Particolare'? My last song available everywhere.

3. Who are Heygregg's biggest musical influences?

When I was younger, my favorite artists were Nirvana, blink-182, and for a while, even Slipknot — alongside Italian rap, which I followed closely.

Then, during the indie boom around 2017, I started getting into a lot of Italian artists from that scene. One of my favorite albums in recent years has been Euphories by Videoclub. I really fell in love with that French electro-pop sound, also thanks to M83.

Lately, I’ve been getting into alternative and post-punk music from abroad. I’ve been listening to a lot of Provoker, Ekkstacy, ThxSoMch, Kxllswxtch, and Arden Jones.

4. What are your goals in the music industry or as an artist?

My goal is to keep creating music and enjoying every step of the process. It feels great to leave the studio knowing that my words have come to life. Every song tells a story.

5. Tell us about your creative process.

Usually, I start by listening to a few beats online from producers I know, or I just pick up my guitar and strum around until I find a nice melody. Then I focus on the lyrics — I write down whatever helps me perfectly describe the moment or the atmosphere I want to create. "Once the song comes together, I go to the studio and lay it all down. It’s rare that I need to tweak the lyrics. Most of the time, I’m quite happy with how they turn out from the start.

6. What is your all-time favorite song by another artist and why?

I’m not sure... maybe ‘Where Is My Mind’ by the Pixies or ‘Starman’ by David Bowie. I love the sound of both of these tracks.

7. What is the best advice you have either given or received in terms of music?

One of the best pieces of advice I’ve received is to not overthink things too much — to trust the first instinct, especially when writing. Music should feel natural. And one thing I always say to others is: don’t chase trends. Make what you love, and your sound will find its place.

8. What is your proudest accomplishment?

My proudest accomplishment is simply staying true to myself as an artist and continuing to create music I believe in, even when it wasn’t always easy. Every song I finish feels like a personal victory.

9. What's been your most embarrassing moment so far?

When I arrived at the venue and the dance floor was completely empty, I ended up drinking two gin and tonics and then went back home. I had a 40-degree fever, so probably not my best night.

10. Tell us about your lowest and highest points in music so far.

I don't have highs, but I got some lows (blink 182).

Those are two very good songs you are calling your favorites! I really like the slow version of Wave of Mutilation by Pixies and Life on Mars from Bowie! Nice to learn more about you!

It was good to get to know more about you. It sounds like you have a wide range of influences and your favourite songs are definitely awesome tracks. I particularly liked the advice that you gave about not chasing trends and just being yourself, otherwise we'd all same the same wouldn't we? Also, there's so much noise and opinion out there that you're never going to please everyone so you might as well at least please yourself, and then anyone else is just a bonus.....
